German musician and music activist Sebastian Studnitzky is known for conveying pure emotions through his trumpet sound and his songs without sounding pretentious. He has the ability to strike this balance with serenity and skill. As a prolific and multifaceted artist, Studnitzky is constantly on the road with his own projects or as a trumpet and piano player with bands like Jazzanova Live, Nils Landgren’s Funk Unit, Mezzoforte and Wolfgang Haffner performing at the major international festivals. He played weird electronic jams with Moritz von Oswald or Ricardo Villalobos, composed for symphonic orchestras in crossover projects and produced soundscapes for unusual events and installations like Germany’s most successful exhibition ‘Magic Places’ in the Gasometer Oberhausen. There are no boundaries for his creative output. Beyond his unique sound and sense for melody and emotion, it is a certain minimalistic disposition that characterizes his music. Studnitzky loves the nakedness of pure and simple melodies, where one cannot hide behind complicated structures. It is silence that inspires him the most. His current album ‘KY: Do Mar’ was recorded and mixed in Portugal and Iceland. Unique music beyond any styles, perfectly fit to serve as a road movie sound track somewhere between Miles Davis and Neil Young!
