G.I. DISCO (DJ SET)
G.I. DISCO are the music activists Kalle Kuts and Daniel W. Best. Both are not only renowend DJs since two decades: While Berlin native Kalle is also known for his music production works, Washington DC born Daniel also is for beeing one of the German capital's most acclaimed concert and event promoters since more than 15 years.
In 2010 they started their mission together to bring back that soul, funk, RnB, pop and dance sound that they first heard in the 80s on AFN radio and the clubs of the US-Army troops in West-Germany. A music that now again has a strong influence on today's pop and dance music, so it's no suprise they frequently are booked as at concerts and aftershow parties by artists such as Chromeo, Dam Funk or Die Fantastischen 4.
Their monthly G.I. DISCO events have become an open secret and pull not only a regular Berlin crowd, but also music celebrities such as the R&B superstar Kelly Rowland, US rappers of the likes of Talib Kweli or Camp Lo and the Berlin-based electronic DJ-jetset from DJ T. to Jazzanova.
Their first cd/vinyl compilation "G.I. DISCO - The History of the Cold War's hottest 80s Club Music in West-Germany" was internationally released on the world renowned British label BBE Rec.
