Since their formation in 1999 Micatone became a blueprint for the nujazz genre linking club sounds like drum & bass, house and trip hop, with folk and jazz.

 

After three successful electronic albums recorded and released as part of Jazzanova’s label Sonar Kollektiv, Micatone explore a more back-to-the-roots way of making music. Lead singer Lisa Bassenge and her band hit us with a luscious new album "Wish I Was Here" replacing computers and beatmaking machines by recording the whole album entirely live.

 

Their new sound is deep and mature integrating elements of jazz, soul, surf and blues.
