"An uplifting, end of the nighter from Pete Josef. Play this to give yourself an energy boost." Gilles Peterson "Josef’s voice is exceptional throughout, as indeed is the whole album." Ben Hogwood, DMC World
The debut album “Colour” (Sonar Kollektiv) of UK singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Pete Josef is a heartfelt, genre-bending combination of jazz, soul, pop, and electro - a musical journey of depth and beauty, underpinned by Josef’s brilliant voice and rich live instrumentation. To celebrate his gig at Montreux Jazz Festival Japan, Pete Josef recently released a special 3-track EP. “The Travelling Song” taken from his debut album “Colour” gets three different remixes which suit the occasion perfectly. The first one comes from the Kyoto Jazz Sextet and turns the pop song into a proper bebop track with mesmerizing horn stabs and a drum break out of this world. The remix by DJ Kawasaki & Makoto pushes the song straight onto the dancefloor by making a uplifting vocal house track out of it. The third and last rework by Mark De Clive-Lowe from New Zealand keeps the positive, life-affirming vibes up.
Out 4th November, “A Step feat. Pete Josef” is the lead single to be lifted from the third solo album by celebrated Hang player, percussionist, producer and composer Manu Delago. Setting the scene for the 'Metromonk' LP (out 27th January), this atmospheric song sees Delago melding a mesmerising, live-manipulated Hang performance with an equally captivating vocal turn from Gilles Peterson Worldwide Award-nominee Pete Josef.
